Birthing Years Transitions Philosophy

Me with babies Julius and Lupin, 2011
I am Lillian Shoupe and thank you for visiting my Web site. This site explains in
great detail the services I provide in the greater Eugene and Springfield, Oregon area.
I came to working with young families through a circuitous route . . .
My wonderful life experiences, various jobs and careers have included a
stay-at-home mom (Ben and Abe were born in 1979 & 1982), midwife assistant,
elementary school librarian, caterer, certified Rolfer®, movement therapist,
quilt maker, and apron making zealot.
I've been fortunate enough to explore much of the United States, Mexico, Jamaica,
and Canada. I've lived in Southern and Northern California, Montana, Arkansas, and New Mexico. In December, 2009,
hubby Rick and I finally settled in Oregon. No more relocating!
I considered a career as a midwife many years ago, and with much introspection, in 2000 I started my migration back to this arena. I am now a happily certified birth doula through DONA, certified HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method teacher, certified infant massage instructor, and yoga instructor (qualified to teach through my lifelong personal yoga experiences and 13 years of private practice in Rolfing and movement therapy).
While I don't have plans to pursue midwifery, the services I offer in birth and postpartum doula support, and teaching HypnoBirthing, infant massage, and prenatal & postpartum yoga are wonderful and satisfying practices that keep me in touch with women, babies, and young families.

My Mother and Me, 1960
My goal is to help an emerging family have the healthy pregnancy,
joyous birth experience and fun fourth-trimester they want & deserve
Believing that pregnancy, birth, and the early months after birth
are key experiences
in the lives of women, babies, families,
and all of humanity,
I offer my services.
